• Before joining academia Schiele accumulated 10 years experience in industry and consulting (Dresdner Bank AG, Preussag AG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, h&z consulting)
• Research focus:

- supplier satisfaction and preferred customer status
- innovations from and with suppliers
- supply risk management
- Industry 4.0 in purchasing
- Megatrends – and their impact on purchasing

• Member of the purchasing academic council of the Volkswagen group, advisory board NLR – Dutch aerospace agency
• In 2014 Twente was the first university to achieve the “Global Standard in Professional Purchasing Education” administrated by the international federation IFPSM (only Dutch university to offer a purchasing specialisation in the bachelor and a purchasing track in the master)
• Typical “twents”: hands-on approach, all concepts are practice proven and implemented with many firms
